I want a wireless landline phone

Due to the low peso exchange rate and the commodities are still getting higher, we are experiencing financial drought. For an average income earner and are paying for a brand new house for my mom and my siblings since our house got on fire, we really struggle to save more money monthly. Although I got a part time job twice a week the income is unfortunately still not that high to splurge, that is why I want to get rid of a few things we don't need that much. I realized that we don't need a land line phone that much. We are paying P700.00 per month for that alone. I searched the net for a lower landline phone and I found out that some companies even offers a wireless phone. It is more convenient since you can bring it anywhere and the best part is that the monthly bill is at half price. But I don't know what to choose.

BAYANTEL PHONE
Basic Wireless for P499- unlimited local land line calling for as low as P17/day and unlimited texts to  any     bayanPHONE

This SAHM goes back to corporate world!

This month, I decided to go back to corporate world. Thankfully my boss agreed that I can go to work twice a week only, since I can't do it full time. My office schedule is every Thursday and Saturday only. My mom, will be the one to take care of my son every Thursday while hubby is scheduled every Saturday. I still can't let anybody take care of him since as I've said before, we have no companion related to us in the house.

Going back to work makes me alive again. Don't get me wrong of course I love to be a stay at home mom, but I also want to improve my well being and also to have my own money and to help monthly ends meet.

What's great with this kind of schedule is that I still have time to make online jobs. Because of dollar conversion to peso getting weaker, looking for other ways to earn money should be done. If only I have more time and strength to do other sideline work then I will surely grab it.

I'm back in Mommy Moments

It's been a while since I posted for Mommy Moments, my last post last March!

I missed joining Mommy Moments. I missed the fun of reading other moms' posts and of course interacting with everyone's experiences.

I'm so sorry mommy Chris, I know I missed a lot!

Anyway, I'm back and I really like the theme for this week BEFORE and AFTER!

It just happened that when we were watching Ren videos last night, we were surprised how fast this little boy is growing up.

Here is Ren's Now and Then photos:

Photo taken March 2009 (Ren @ 1.7 yrs old)

The sweet innocent little boy is still sweet but a little bit naughty now (look at the smile hehehe!)

I want a "Hunter" rain boots!

As of this writing, the Philippines is hit by a strong typhoon named Juan (international codename Megi). I went to the market early this morning to buy some food supplies since I am so afraid that the heavy rains and strong winds will not stop till tomorrow, and that there will be heavy floods in our area. Last Typhoon Ondoy, my family wasn't prepared, that is why I am becoming paranoid every time there will be heavy rains. I borrowed my husband's rain boots since I'm afraid that I might be trapped in a flooded street while going to the market. I also don't want my feet to be wet by dirty water and of course to avoid leptospirosis.

While walking, I have realized why is it that rain boots in the Philippines are very out of fashion and why the manufacturers didn't even bother to develop it. It always rains here and for sure fashionable boots will be a big hit in the market. Most rain boots that I usually see looks so manly, and yet even guys don't want to wear it especially when they will go to the office. To prove that, just today I can't convince my husband to wear it when he goes to work this morning despite of explaining to him that his pants and shoes might be soaked in the water. It looks like that it's better to be wet than to wear the boots at all. So, if men don't want it, what more for women?

It's good to know that there are some sites that offer fashionable boots. They are sold at a higher price compared to the ones we usually see at the mall but it's no doubt that you will love to wear it maybe even when it's not raining at all. Check out this sit:e Bajaboots , they sell fashionable rain boots for P1,998 (introductory price until October 21, original price is P2,300). The regular boots' cost is only P280 but it will be useless when you can't wear it at all, so I think spending a little more is worth it in the long run.

From the different styles available, I prefer this particular boots since it is classy and you can match it with any clothes.  It has a wedge that  makes it more interesting.

In Paris and New York, rain boots are popular and some celebrities were spotted wearing one.  If you think the item above is pricey then check out the following designer's rain boots.

Chanel rain boots
Chanel 450 €
Burberry rubber and snake skin rain boots 300 €
LES CUIRS SULKY RUBBER from Celine 295 €

Givenchy 350 € (I love this one!)
Fendi 145 €

Gucci Black rubber with gold hardware. £165

But the most popular rain boots I've searched and worn by most celebrities is the "Hunter rain boots by Jimmy Choo".

The Late Princess Diana at her engagement in Original Green Hunters
Angelina Jolie in Original Red Hunter rain boots in Mr and Mrs. Smith
Anne Hathaway in Hunters
Nicole Richie in her green Hunter boots
Rachel Bilson in Hunter by Jimmy Choo crocodile rain boots

Hilarry Duff

Sarah Michelle Gellar
Kate Moss Fashion Icon in Black Original Hunters

Ashley Olsen in Navy Original Hunters

Touchy Story of Geraldine "Dane" J. Oliva

I was browsing my facebook home page when I saw this link from mommy Rubz.
Her story was featured in Wish Ko lang, and when I saw that on Youtube I can't help myself but to cry.

She is suffering from chronic kidney disease and while she is undergoing dialysis she acquired metabolic problems in her bones. This illness, transformed her physical appearance tremendously.  She was beautiful then and even one of their town's first choice every time there will be a beauty pageant.  Besides, she is not only beautiful, she is also intelligent.  She is an employee of Banco de Oro bank in Balayan Batangas, and take note, despite of her condition, she still goes to work to support her family financially.  But just this October 1, she decided to retire from work since her body cannot take it anymore.

It's good to know that her husband takes care of her despite of all the things they are going through.  As what Dane said, man will always be a man and she will not blame her husband if he will look for another beautiful woman.  But she is touched when sometimes she fells her husband's hand in her head and whispers to her "You are Beautiful!". Awwww, this words really made me cry.

Her children needs a mother, that is why she is still fighting to be well again.  I believe that prayers can make miracles, that is why I am asking everyone to please pray for her and spread the word.  The Olivia family is struggling to pay for Geraldine's dialysis.  For the past 7 years they already spent almost 7 million pesos or approximately $155,000 for her medication and confinement, and now they don't know if they can still continue to support Geraldine's treatment.

For those who wish to help her financially, you can email savegeraldine@yahoo.com
or you can deposit your donations to her account at Banco de Oro.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

By the way here is the excerpt of her story:

My Childhood, My Lifestyle

During my adolescent years, I indulged in socio-civic organizations, essay
writing competitions, beauty pageants, fellowships and many gatherings.

My diet included fatty, salty foods and cold iced tea. Though, in my
younger years, I never drank alcohol nor did I smoke. But I was addicted to
“junk food.” I confess, I loved to eat corn chips (chips, in general), salty
flakes, et cetera… I loved to drink cold cola with almost every meal and I
had less water intake. I can clearly recall that I had repeated attacks of
tonsillitis with rising fevers, accompanied by chills and aches in my back
and limbs.

My Journey

I remember when I was in high school, I had frequent fevers and the doctor
said that there was blood in my urine specimen. I believed it to be an
ordinary infection. I was not aware of the physical changes, though my
friends noticed sudden edema on my face, legs and feet; but, I mistook it
as simple weight gain.

I remember when I was 21, I was hospitalized due to acute pharyngitis. The
provincial doctor told me that it would endanger my life. There was an
intense soreness in my throat and I had difficulty swallowing and talking.
Ignorant on the proper management on the disease, I did not fully
comprehend the proper food pyramid that I should abide by and I continued
on with my habit of eating “garbage food.”

When I got married at the age of 24, the habit became worse. Our (my
family)’s died revolved on fatty, salty food that were rich in protein and
carbohydrates. When I got pregnant, the cravings for these foods increased.
I concentrated on canned, salty and processed foods so much that I seldom
ate fruits and vegetables.

It was in February 2000, four months before I gave birth to my fourth
child, when I had pre-eclampsia. I got hospitalized because of chest
heaviness, rise in my blood pressure and increase in the amount of tissue
fluid manifested by the sudden gain in my weight and the swelling of my
face and fingers.

Last August 16, 2000, my husband had a motorcycle accident. This resulted
into my having post-partum depression. Since then, I had occasional nausea
and extreme vomiting. I mistook those symptoms as migraines or other small
illnesses.

It was in the last week of July 2003, after a seminar I attended in Laguna,
that I began to experience severe abdominal pain. My family decided to
transport me to Makati Medical Center for proper management and evaluation.
I was seen by a nephrologist because my creatinine was above the usual norm
and I was diagnosed with Glomerulonephritis. I started on twice-a-week
hemodialysis on September 2003. I personally considered once a week
dialysis because of financial constraints.

In 2007, I felt sudden changes in my body. I had decreased appetite,
immense depression, I was losing weight mercurially and I was more
irritable than usual. I was obliged to resume my twice a week dialysis. A
year afterwards, I began to feel muscle weakness in my leg, in my arms and
in my body, especially after hemodialysis. It was in 2008 when a donor came
and offered my her kidney. But after the Stage 2 work-up, the possible
kidney donor vanished, together with my initial gift to her (which wasn’t
that large an amount). Since then, my world just stopped. I felt miserable,
hopeless and I became so desperate, that I missed the chance to perceive
the sudden change in my looks.

During the first quarter of 2009, I experienced occasional gum bleeding and
my dentist noticed my growing palate. I consulted a specialist, a head and
neck surgeon. After a CT scan, the findings were “Fibrous Dysplasia” and
suspicious “acromegaly.” I was referred to an endocrinologist. The doctor
told me that I would need surgery to remove the adenoma on the right of my
neck due to hyperparathyroidism. Several fears dawned on me. The fear from
the procedure. The fear of its cost. The fear of the complications.

The abnormal growth of my palate continued and it led to frequent
gum bleeding. I had difficulty in eating. I could not chew food. My body
decreased in weight. I had a hard time walking so I spent less time on my
routine activities. I was not aware that I spent more time in a wheelchair
than anywhere else. Because of the frequent gum bleeding, I decided to seek
the aid of a head and neck surgeon in Asian Hospital. After a string of
bloodworks and CT scans, the doctor referred me to an endocrinologist.
Again.

When my medical insurance exhausted, I felt so powerless, helpless and
hopeless. According to my father, my financial steward, we already spent
PHP7 Million (approximately $155000) for almost 7 years of medication and
confinement. I disclosed my financial dilemma to my endocrinologist. Little
did I know that God answered my prayers through her. Truly, God works. She
organized a conference for some medical professionals to raise funds for
further management of my disease.

Reawakening the hope, my zest to live stir. I know I can never cling to
money, because I have none, I know I can never cling to destiny, because it
is fate, but I know I can cling to my Faith. God is there…

Self confessed TV series freaks

I must confess to you guys something. Me and my hubby are TV series freaks. There I said it. Every night when he gets home, we watch old TV series which we didn't had the opportunity to watch when they were on air. We have recently finished the Lost, Glee season 1, Chuck, and Parenthood.

We really adore the casts of Parenthood. It is a family drama which follows the lives and experiences of the Braverman family.

Each individual family deals with their share of parenting problems, each of them are trying their best to cope with them in their own unique way. I am sure that there is at least one problem that they are facing that you as a parent or as a child/teenager can relate to. I won't spoil the story here for you guys.

It is really a commendable show and I suggest that every parent out there to watch it.

I love mother earth!

Thankfully hubby and I had a little extra time to clean the entire house last month. We got rid of some clutter and throned away a lot of junk items. I did all the wiping and dust removal, while hubby did the re arrangements of furniture, books and some boxes.

After doing the general cleaning, I realized that the house will look fresh and clean if we will make it eco-friendly. Well, we need to reconstruct the whole house to do this since we are living in a compound and we only have a few windows to let the natural air and light flow.

But this didn't made me stop getting what I wanted. I know I still can make the house eco friendly without spending too much. I started with changing the incandescent light bulbs to energy-efficient compact fluorescents. I also bought a lot of different plants in pots and I had placed them in our window and in front of the house for us to breath some fresh air.

I also bought a plastic container (just like the one you see in supermarkets) that I will use every time I go to the wet market nearby, this way, the use of plastic bag will be minimized. I am also using a decorated sack bag every time I go to Divisoria to buy school supplies for my mini store and some RTW.

I am planning to buy cloth diapers for my son too, these could help decrease the spoiled diapers in our landfills, and I even plan to look for cloth napkins or even do one for me that I can use every month during my menstrual period. Well, I am a stay at home mom so this will not be a problem for me.

If the majority of the people will do the same thing we will surely make our planet happy.

I just wish we will win the lottery to have money to reconstruct the house or better have a new house that is already designed to be eco friendly.
