My Johnson & Johnson Bedtime discoveries!

Yesterday January 30, 2010 another JOHNSON’S® Baby Bedtime Discoveries: Bedtime A to Zzz’s was held at the Japan Room, Ascott Residences in Makati City.  Mommies and soon to be mom bloggers experienced the beauty of having a good night sleep for babies.  I am very thankful to be invited to this exclusive event, I've learned so much and because we are allowed to invite a female companion, I asked my sister in law to join me and she was very grateful to be there too.

As a first time mom, I know the feeling of being clueless of everything that is happening to my baby. From bathing, feeding and putting him to sleep, it is really a challenging thing. It's hard to be a mom and at the same time very rewarding.  Good thing I had my auntie with me to take care of my son when he was newly born.  She thought me everything she knew and I learned a lot from her.  But, having her with me doesn't made me stop searching for other ways to keep my son healthy and bright.  Although I did not encounter major problems in putting Ren to sleep I still learned a lot from this event, and I want to share it to all of you.

Did you know that  Sleep is one of the most important factors in releasing growth hormones, most especially for very young babies? Now I know why my son is bigger from the normal boy at his age, it is because while my baby is asleep he produce growth hormones for up to 3X more.

Ms. Christine "TinTin" Bersola Babao hosted the said event.

Dr. Luis Rivera, a Fellow of the Philippine Society for Sleep Medicine, tackled  the benefits of good night sleep to babies and to mommies as well.

Another speaker: Ms. Christine Balingit, she's not yet a mom but she experienced being one by taking care of her twin sister's daughter.

and this is Ms. Bea Dalma.

A good night sleep starts with 3 easy steps:

I had fun on this event. People from Nuffnang and Johnson & Johnson are very accommodating.  I and Tetcha of Pensive Thoughts were the first bloggers who arrived in the said event. We had breakfast first and my niece enjoyed playing in the room which were prepared specially for them. I grabbed some pictures from Pehpot of Make or Break since my camera is already out of battery at the middle of the event Photobucket
Good thing Fedhz of Home Buddies was there to handle Pehpot cam since she bought her children (Sati and Chico) with her. I also met Paula of Happy Thoughts (oh my! I keep calling her Joana all the time- who the heck am I thinking)Photobucket

and to apply what we learned in the event, J&J gave every attendee a pack of their products and a pair of a comfortable slippers.

An update of me

Yesterday Jan.30 I attended the exclusive seminar for mommies and single ladies at Ascottt Residences in Makati City c/o Johnson and Johnsons.  I will tackle all the things I've learned and happened there later.  Right now, I just want to dedicate this post as an update of the things that happened to me. I know some of you will not be interested so get out now!! hahaha!.. just kidding! It's my honor if you'll stay..

I had my New Years resolution last Jan.1, one of them is to lose some weight. Well as of know, I am not successful with it I am still 63kg.  But it's good to know though that it didn't increase. I really need a diet plan now, does Japanese banana diet really works? They say that a breakfast consisting of raw bananas and a glass of room-temperature water can boost the metabolism so much it allows the dieter to eat almost ANYTHING for lunch and dinner and still lose weight, anyone of you out there tried it?

On the other hand, I am successful in saving.  Hubby and I decided to put our extra P5 and P10 coins in a piggy bank and at the end of the month we will transfer it to my son's savings account.  For this month we saved more than a thousand bucks out of P5 and P10 coins.

Lastly, about my hot temper I think I still have to work out on it.

Real Leaf Paparazzi

I never thought that being a paparazzi would be fun and at the same time a thrilling experience.  While I was walking around the park with my son, we came across a metro aide lady who was drinking Real Leaf Green Tea, I hurriedly used my camera and took a snapshot of her.

I think she drinks Real Leaf Green Tea because it was really quite hot that day and this is the best thirst quencher at times like this. And who would say that Real Leaf Green Tea can not be afforded by ordinary people? With a price of just Php 17-18, it's really quite affordable. And not only can it quench the thirst, but it has also other numerous benefits. Green Tea leaves possess a high amount of effective antioxidants that is why it was used to prevent sickness and disease and was also known to boost the immune system. It also helps to combat high cholesterol and blood pressure; lower blood sugar levels in diabetics; reduce the risk of some cancers; prevent heart disease and strokes; as well as increase longevity. This drink is the best choice for people who are working hard for their family. "Prevention is better than cure" so it is a wise choice to choose a healthy drink like Real Leaf Green Tea.

I salute this lady for giving priority to her health, maybe she is motivated to live longer so that she can provide for her family's needs.

After drinking Real Leaf Green Tea, she get back to work with full of energy.

World’s Tallest 15-Year-Old

I really envy this guy, Bradley Fisher. He may only be 15 but everyone looks up to him. At just an inch under 7ft, he is pictured here with Zoe McDermott, 4ft 6in. Bradley, a pupil at Southlands High School in Chorley, Lancashire, has size 15 feet and is still growing. He overtook his father Robert before he had left primary school. Mr Fisher is just over 6ft, while his wife Amanda is 5ft 10in.”

Why do we need to pay Real Estate Taxes?

I went to Manila City Hall yesterday to pay for our yearly real estate tax.  But, I did not expected to see a lot of people in the area since every time I went there I feel like a queen because the area is so spacious and 4 out of 5 cashier windows are all vacant. Yesterday, I was shocked when I saw a lot of people in the area.

The people sitting are those who are still waiting for their Statement of Account be released.  You cannot go directly to the cashier to pay for your real estate tax; you need the statement before paying.  So, only after receiving the statement then you could now fall in line again to the cashier windows to pay for it. It took me an hour to receive my statement, and I decided to quit for the day and just go back before the month ends to pay for it since I know it will take me another hour to pay for it. If you have a companion then you can ask him/her to fall in line first so that when you receive the statement you can pay for it at once.

I heard a lot of people complaining at behind me; maybe they taught that I am a reporter since I brought my big camera to take a picture of them.  Maybe they wanted me to publish bad things about this situation.  Yes, I feel their sentiments because they came from far places and it just happen that they have a property in Manila and that they are required to paid in Manila (of course!)  But one thing that made me cool and look at the positive side is the way the people of the City Hall treat the tax payers.  They were giving away FREE Iced Tea and FREE coffee; they also have a LCD TV so that the people will be preoccupied at the moment.

My husband once asked me, why do we always pay real estate tax wherein the building and lot is already ours? I really don't know how to answer it correctly, because all I know is that it is our responsibility. We should pay real estate tax to avoid getting in trouble because the government can get your property anytime if you will not pay for the taxes.  I know that's the dumbest answer but I really don't know why we should pay for a real estate tax. Can you help me with this? I tried searching for the best answer in Google but I can't find one.

By the way, if you'll pay your real estate tax for the whole year before February 1, 2009 you are entitled for a 20% discount.  If you will pay it quarterly on every 1st month of the quarter you'll have a 15% discount, and 10% discount if paid on the 2nd and 3rd month of the quarter.  While they will ask for a 2% charge for late and delinquent payment every month.

My Birthday is coming soon!

This is a quick post.

Yes! I will be another year older at the end of the month, and I don't have any plans on how to celebrate it yet. Maybe we'll go to church, eat outside, and then spend some time playing at the arcade and get a nice small cake and eat it when we get home and that's it. Do you think it's boring? yes maybe, I won't argue! But, that's the simplest way I know on how to celebrate a birthday.

Can you give me some advise on how to make it special without splurging a lot of money?
