The Debt Owed

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his Mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass: $5.00
For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00
For going to the store for you: $.50
Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: $.25
Taking out the garbage: $1.00
For getting a good report card: $5.00
For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00
Total owed: $14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he'd written on, and this is what she wrote:

For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me:
No Charge

For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you:
No Charge

For all the trying times, and all the tears that you've caused through the years:
No Charge

For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead:
No Charge

For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose:
No Charge

Son, when you add it up, the cost of my love is:
No Charge.

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said, "Mom, I sure do love you." And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote: "PAID IN FULL".

Poor sleep leads to more colds

A study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine has revealed that "people who sleep less than seven hours a night appear to be almost three times as likely to catch a cold as those who sleep eight hours or more."

Quality of sleep counts even more than quantity. Those who spend as little as 25 minutes a night tossing and turning face more than five times the risk of sniffing and sneezing.

A team of researchers interviewed 153 healthy men and women each day for 14 days about the length and quality of their sleep the previous night. The 78 men and 75 women ranged in age from 21 to 55 years.

The volunteer participants were then sequestered in hotel rooms, exposed to a cold virus and observed for five days. Fifty-four of them came down with colds.

Controlling for numerous factors that can influence health -- including age, race, income, education, smoking, exercise and depression -- the study found that the longer and better participants slept, the better they were able to resist or fight off infection, said Sheldon Cohen, a professor of psychology at Carnegie Mellon University and the first author of the study.

Girl laughs for 12 years

A couple from China are desperately seeking a cure for their daughter's rather strange sickness, she has been laughing non-stop for 12 years.

The mother, Yang Longying, of Chongqing, says it started when her second child, Xu Pinghui, had a fever when she was just eight months old.

"Ever since then, she has been laughing uncontrollably," she told the Chongqing Evening Post.

The couple say the situation worsened when she reached two years old because she lost her ability to speak and could only laugh.

The girl's father, Xu Weiming, a construction worker, has spent virtually all of his wages, plus extra money he has borrowed, for medical treatment but to no avail.

"Seeing her laughing, we feel even sadder than if she were crying," he said.

A neurologist at Chongqing Medical College is now suggesting a brain scan to try and establish the cause of the girl's condition.

Why Men wants women with Long hairs?

I've just had my hair cut yesterday (above my shoulder). I came up with this decision because I can no longer manage to have my long hair, especially now that I am a housewife. My friends told me that I look better with a short hair, but my husband doesn't like it. He prefers my hair to be long although I usually tie it in a ponytail.

What's wrong with girls having short hairs?

I find short hairs to be sexier, especially if you look better with it. I think the real beauty of a women is on the inside. And she must feel good about herself. I feel great with my new hair. But since I cannot understand why men love girls with long hairs, I searched the web and found some answers to this question.

1. They like long hairs because they have this obsession with running their hands through it when they kiss a girl and something about how girls always seem to have such silky soft hair is a huge turn on to them.

2. They don't want short hair on girls because it felt like they were grabbing another guy because her hair was so short and it was a turn off for them.

3. It is a sign of superiority to pull a female's hair, and most males like to feel dominant over females if not for a small amount of time.

4. Most men love long hair because it is feminine and sexy

For me, it doesn't matter if your hair is long or short as long as you keep it clean, well-combed and smells good. Cutting your hair or making it long is your personal preference. As long as it will make you happy and feel good about yourself, then go for it! Don't think what your husband will say (although it still matters) but you will be the one to wear it not him.

Goodluck!

Innovative ways to recycle plastic bottles

There are numerous ways on how we can reuse plastic soda bottles. Here are some of the most creative and elegantly looking ones I have seen. These images were just emailed to me so I couldn't credit the designer for his/her amazing work, if any of you guys know who did these, just let me know so we can give proper credit.

These are only a few ways that you can reuse plastic soda bottles instead of just throwing them away.

Don’t forget that you can incorporate other recyclable items such as aluminum cans, old CDs and even bottle caps into your green works of art.

Spider-Man meets Obama

Barack Obama appears in a new Spider-Man comic in which the superhero saves his life and becomes one of his fans.

"To celebrate the upcoming inauguration of Barack Obama, Marvel is proud to present an all-new story teaming up one of the world's most recognizable political figures with the world's greatest super hero," Marvel said yesterday in a statement posted on its website.

The story starts with Peter Parker taking photographs at the inauguration, before spotting two identical Obamas.

Parker decides "the future president's gonna need Spider-Man" and springs into action, using basketball, another passion of Mr Obama's, to determine the real Mr Obama and knocking out the impostor.

Marvel's editor-in-chief Joe Quesada said he wanted to give Obama a "shout-out back" after he revealed he had collected Spider-Man comics as a child.

"How great is that? The commander-in-chief to be is actually a nerd-in-chief," Quesada said. "It was really, really cool to see that we had a geek in the White House. We're all thrilled with that."

Mr Quesada added that Marvel comics had featured most presidents, but generally in walk-on roles.

He added: "I think President Nixon might have appeared on the cover, but not in a good way."

Obama has said that as a child, he collected Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comic books. His Senate website used to have a photo of him posing in front of a Superman statue.

The special Obama story is a bonus in Marvel Comic's Amazing Spider-Man #583, available in comic book shops nationwide on Jan. 14 for $3.99 and is expected to sell out, with half the covers devoted to Obama.

New Study Reveals that Exercising Doesn'’t Make You Thin

Here's a news flash for you guys, that will question the age old idea on how to lose weight: exercise won’t make you slim.

Researchers from the Loyola University Health System and other centers compared African American women in metropolitan Chicago with women in rural Nigeria. On average, the Chicago women weighed 184 pounds and the Nigerian women weighed 127 pounds.

Researchers had expected to find that the slimmer Nigerian women would be more physically active. To their surprise, they found no significant difference between the two groups in the amount of calories burned during physical activity.

"Decreased physical activity may not be the primary driver of the obesity epidemic," said Amy Luke, Loyola nutritionist and a member of the study team.

People burn more calories when they exercise. Thing is, they compensate by eating more, said Richard Cooper, co-author of the study and chairman of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology.

the Unlucky Lottery Winner

Donald Peters is either a really lucky guy or a very unlucky person. It depends on how you view it. He is so lucky because what are the odds of winning the bog one in the lottery? On the other hand, he is unlucky because he suffered a heart attack and died. But at least he has something to give his family even though he is now gone.

He bought two Connecticut Lottery tickets at a local 7-11 store on Nov. 1. He did this as part of a 20-year long tradition he shared with his wife Charlotte. Later that day, the 79-year-old retired hat factory worker suffered a fatal heart attack while working in his yard in Danbury.

"He’d be very mad, he just passed away and she won a lot of money," said Brian Peters, one of the couple’s three children. "He’d say, ‘Figures!"’

Fake Twitter site Scam

fake twitter site.jpg
If you receive a direct message or a direct message email notification that redirects to what looks like Twitter.com—don't sign in. Look closely at the URL because it could be a scam.

This particular scam sent out emails resembling those you might receive from Twitter if you get email notifications of your Direct Messages. The email says something like, "hey! check out this funny blog about you..." and provides a link. That link redirects to a site masquerading as the Twitter front page. Look closely at the URL field, if it has another domain besides Twitter but looks exactly like the original Twitter page then it's a fraud and you should not sign in.

Bush chuckers target shoe discount

shoe throwing discount.jpg
A Chinese shoe store is giving away huge discounts to customers who hit what appears to be an image of George Bush by throwing shoes.

Depending on where the shoe hits, customers can receive a discount from 20% to 50% off at the store in Wenzhou.

The activity, with a slogan "Hitting for world fame and good fortune", was so popular among shoppers that the store had to call police to maintain order.

During the first 30 minutes of the special promotion they sold 64 pairs of shoes and earned more £1,000. Several hundred pairs of shoes were sold on the second day.

"We were inspired by the shoe throwing incident in Iraq and hoped customers can get some entertainment while shopping," said the shop owner.

Creepy Beach Sculptures from around the world

Here are a few beach sculptures from around the world that would usually make people go away instead of attracting them.

1. Hand Of Harmony, Homigot, Korea

Go here to see a giant's hand reaching out from the shallow waters ready to grab someone. The Hand Of Harmony has been said to worry tourists in Korea since 1999.

2. Sperm Whale, Scheveningen Beach, The Netherlands

This dead Sperm Whale is actually made from wood, aluminum and polyester and was placed on Scheveningen Beach in July 2008. Some tourists are seen placing their towels as far away as possible.

3. Another Place, Liverpool, England

This beach in Liverpool has numerous zombie-like statues, all facing out to sea in various places all over the beach making it a creepy sight to behold.

4. A Room Where It Always Rains, Barcelona, Spain

Juan Munoz’s "A Room Where It Always Rains" is known to be the creepiest piece of beach art on earth. It consists of 5 stone people trapped in a cage on a strip of sand in Barcelona. The closer you get, the scarier it becomes, as the agony in their faces becomes clearer with each step.

5. Couple, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, England

If you are looking at these 2 from ashore, you would probably be concerned about the couple which is about to be smashed to death by the huge waves.
